Double camp again so lazy day intent – ended up on a six hour paddle and fishing trip, lol.
There were some interesting and remote lakes near here not on the path, so we went to look.
Midday fishing was so so and by lunch we didnt have anything. But we were fishing with artificial frogs over the lily pads.and got lots.of northern to strike, plenty on the line, but none in the boat. Fun fishing anyway.
Lunch finished with cold wind and rain moving in. Brrrr. We huddled a bit until it passed. In the middle of that we saw our first trumpet swan pair with 4 signets. Less miserable then.
We were ready to go home but the sun came out and wind dropped. Back to fishing. Good thing too, first Sheila put a small northern in the boat, then out first bass. Good sized one too. I got another bass after the portage back to our lake. We were going to let the northern go but a huge sanpping turtle got him as we left them tied to the boat. Wow, that thing looked scary, and he wasnt afraid of me!
The bass tasted great.
We almost didnt see anyone today. One boat in the distance. It is usually like that once you are a few days from and entry.
And big event this morning, I was abke to use beaver chewed wood to replace a leg on the camp chair. Ah, luxury.
