We started hitting bass about 5 min out of our campsite this morning and the action didnt stop until we put away the poles. We stopped and had a couple bass for lunch and we just did the same for dinner + stove top. Super fun.
For a place.where we didnt need a permit or a reservation, this area doesnt have much in the way of people in it. Four speed boats and 12 other people in two groups all day and we are still within one day paddling distance of the entry. I like it. I think I am going to like it even more tomorrow when we cross a portage and the boat traffic comes to an end. Though there is at least one fly in residence back in there we were told. And an old abandoned lodge, and a couple cabins we might use if they are empty. Apparently that is allowed. I didnt ask too many questions.
The day started with a lot of smoke about 9am when tbe wind changed to southerly, but that appeared to be the smoke that was blown north the day before. It is clear now. Couple of secfuons into the wind today we put our backs into.
We talked.about how we never would have found this place if we hadnt of had a itinerary problem. I think more people would be happier if they could let go the angst of a total blow up in plans causes. Just take the local recommendation, eapecially when you are out of your zome, and it can lead to good things. There is some risk in that, could suck, but sometines leads to new, and some of tbose experinces make all the not-so- great ones worth it. Some of my favorite adventures/memories start with a wrong turn. missed flight, or weather
