Whew! What a day. Start early,.then couple hour paddle to exit. Bud took us to Atikokan, with a stop at ranger station. Bud knows everyone so we talked to Russel the area manager and the Quetico park manager, lol. Park is going to closed until end of month almost certainly and no good news as far as opening up then, so then what.
No hotel rooms so new plan had to happen fast. Namakan River at Lady falls to Crane lake by canoe. Got no maps so a few screen shots from paddle planner and a couple print outs from outfitter. We are reversing the $1100 tow that got us to the start point that never started. What took two hours by speed boat will take 3-5 days by canoe. We still got 4 weeks.of supplies so we are good there.
Lots of folks.asked us if we were okay (we are fine, happy, and rolling with it). Sorry we didnt get back to you, we had only about 2 hours total in cell range and that included showers and burgers.
Didnt take many pics today so here is one from where I sit under the Nemo as it gently rains. Called it early as it is windy and we didnt want to take on Lake Namakan this late in the day with white caps.
Our BWCA and Quetico traverse plans didnt pan out. But we are doing cool stuff we didnt have planned! I love that. I will come back to finish the traverse in some later year.
