Made it to Jordan Lake to camp. I didnt even notice the name of the lake when planning. Good first stop! The pic is the view from our campsite.
We saw about 6 other groups today, and almost all of the campsites were taken before we got to this lake. Still to peopley ‘roud here so we will break camp and keep moving tomorrow, but this time with fishing poles out.
Loons are out in force and calling, and a beaver swam by a bit ago. Those are the only neighbors.
Seven portages today, none more than a quarter mile, but only the first one did we try to single portage. All three packs are in the 40-50lb range. After we proved we could then we didnt want to, lol. Been about 3 years since we did a trip that required portaging. Glad we are doing this now as the clock is ticking.
It is chillier than we expected, but sure was nice paddling weather. Some light rain today and we had rain jackets on all day, but mostly to break the wind. Not enough to bust out rain pants.
Good first day out. Tired. Hard to believe we get to do this for 2 months.
